Tea agriculture and industry, in our country in the Eastern Black Sea Region; urbanization, income distribution, regional migration, efficient use of agricultural lands, prevention of erosion, development of agriculture-based industry and similar areas play a locomotive role in increasing the level of socio-economic development.

Çaykur, the strategic institution of the region; It is the largest and leading company in the Turkish tea industry with its 47 Fresh Tea Processing Factory, 2 Marketing and Production Regional Directorates, 7 Marketing Regional Directorates, Anatamir Factory, Atatürk Tea and Horticultural Research Institute, 11,500 employees and 9,050 tons/day wet tea processing capacity. .

Although it varies according to the years, approximately 55-60% of the fresh tea produced in the region is purchased by Çaykur. Çaykur's market share in the domestic dry tea market is approximately 50-55%.

General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) Decree No. 233. It is an Economic State Entity (IDT) subject to the provisions of the provisions of the law, whose capital is fully owned by the state, has a legal personality, is autonomous in its activities and whose responsibility is limited by its capital, and is the relevant institution of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. It was transferred to the Turkey Wealth Fund with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 2017/9756.

The purpose and activity subjects of the organization; It is stated in the Main Statute published in the Official Gazette dated 20/12/1996 and numbered 22853. The subjects of activity of the Organization determine the powers, duties and responsibilities of the Organization; The Organization is authorized, in charge and responsible for the matters necessary for the fulfillment of its activities.

Purpose and activity subjects of the organization are stated in Article 4 of its Main Statute: “To develop tea agriculture in accordance with Turkey's agricultural policy, in line with the principles of economic necessity, profitability and productivity; To create investment resources by helping capital accumulation, to provide the most benefit in free market conditions, to produce, market, import and export all kinds of tea products with the necessary raw material supply, to increase the competitiveness of the Entity in domestic and foreign markets, in the necessary and to engage in all kinds of activities that are beneficial…”
